{"id":664,"date":"2019-07-11T15:36:02","date_gmt":"2019-07-11T15:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/odz.sk\/en\/?p=664"},"modified":"2019-10-13T15:00:10","modified_gmt":"2019-10-13T15:00:10","slug":"the-un-special-rapporteur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/odz.sk\/en\/the-un-special-rapporteur\/","title":{"rendered":"The UN Special Rapporteur Dubravka \u0160imonovi\u0107 released the report on violence against women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The UN General Assembly, 11. 7. 2019 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dubravka \u0160imonovi\u0107, the Special Rapporteur of the Human Rights Council on violence against women, its causes and consequences<\/strong>, submitted the report analysing the issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/digitallibrary.un.org\/record\/3823698\">mistreatment and violence against women in reproductive health services with a focus on childbirth and obstetric violence<\/a>, as well as the root causes and structural issues that need to be addressed to combat such forms of mistreatment and violence. The report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 71\/170. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In section II of the report, the Special Rapporteur <strong>summarizes the activities<\/strong> carried out under the mandate during the reporting period, up until July 2019. In section III, the Rapporteur <strong>analyses mistreatment and violence against women in reproductive health services<\/strong> with a focus on childbirth and obstetric violence, and identifies the root causes of mistreatment as well as structural challenges. In section IV, the Rapporteur sets out her <strong>conclusion and recommendations<\/strong> on preventing and combating mistreatment and violence against women in reproductive health services and during childbirth.<\/p>\n<p>Our NGO <strong>Ob\u010dan, demokracia a zodpovednos\u0165<\/strong> (Citizen, Democracy and Accountability) together with NGO <strong>\u017densk\u00e9 kruhy<\/strong> (Women\u2019s Circles) had <a href=\"http:\/\/odz.sk\/en\/mistreatment-violence-joint-submission\/\">submitted information<\/a> on violations of the human rights of women in Slovak birthing facilities to the Special Rapporteur on violence against women for its consideration in the context of mistreatment and violence against women during reproductive health care with a focus on childbirth. They referred to two reports <a href=\"http:\/\/odz.sk\/en\/women-mothers-bodies\/\">Women \u2013 Mothers \u2013 Bodies: Women\u2019s Human Rights in Obstetric Care in Healthcare Facilities in Slovakia<\/a> (2015) and <a href=\"http:\/\/odz.sk\/en\/women-mothers-bodies-2-systemic-aspects\/\">Women \u2013 Mothers \u2013 Bodies II: Systemic Aspects of Violations of Women\u2019s Human Rights in Birth Care Provided in Healthcare Facilities in Slovakia<\/a> (2016, 2018).
